With games like ourWorld, vegasWorld, and IMVU which are played by people of all ages… we wondered how many people have virtual sex. Then we began thinking, what exactly is virtual sex. According to urban dictionary, they define virtual sex or sexting as:
Sexting (N.) – When a guy and a girl send dirty messages back and forth. Pictures may also be included, but only if you’re lucky.
Guy: I want you SO bad right now.
Girl: Oh my god, yes… but how are we gonna do it?
Guy: Well first I would kiss…….
Girl: Oh yes! Don’t stop. Keep talking.
Now that we all know the definition of sexting, here are 6 facts about sexting that you may not know:
#1: 11 percent of teen girls ages 13 to 16 have been involved with sending or receiving sexually explicit messages.
#2: 22 percent of high-school age teens (ages 15 to 17) and 33 percent of college-age students (ages 18-24) have been involved in a form of nude sexting.
#3: In a survey conducted on teenage girls: 46 percent do it as a joke, 34 percent do it to feel sexy, 12 percent feel pressured, and 8 percent for other reasons.
#4: Among 14 to 24 year olds who admit to sexting, 39 percent send these messages to people they have never met, but know from the internet.
#5: Sending or receiving a sexually suggestive text or image under the age of 18 is considered child pornography and can result in criminal charges.
#6: In the U.S., 8 states have enacted bills to protect minors from sexting, and an additional 14 states have proposed bills to legislation.
